Road closures and parking suspensions

Please be aware that, owing to the parade, there will be a number of road closures and parking suspensions, including the following roads:

  • Branston Street
  • Hall Street
  • Warstone Lane
  • Frederick Street
  • Albion Street
  • Powell Street
  • Summer Hill Road
  • Sand Pits
  • Clement Street
  • St Vincent Street
  • Sheepcote Street
  • Grosvenor Street West
  • Ryland Street
  • Broad Street
  • Centenary Square
  • Road closures will be implemented from approximately 10:00 and are expected to remain in place until approximately 22:00, although roads may reopen earlier if conditions allow.
  • Any parking bays on these roads will be suspended from 00:00 (midnight) until 22:00.
  • Access to some car parks and frontages located on, or accessed via, the affected roads, may be restricted during the operational period.

Please note:

  • Vehicular access may not be possible during closure periods unless explicitly
  • authorised.
  • Side roads adjoining the closure area may also be affected.
  • If access to a vehicle is required during the day, motorists are advised to park outside the affected area in advance.
  • Advance warning signage relating to parking suspensions and road closures will be installed ahead of the operational period.
  • Any vehicles remaining on the route may be relocated for safety and operational reasons and may be subject to enforcement action where appropriate.
  • We advise all off-street car parks along the route to close on Thursday 21 May. Access to car parks along the route will close at 10:00 and we cannot guarantee egress for vehicles from the car parks until road closures are lifted.

Impact on Bus and West Midlands Metro services

  • Bus services within the city centre are expected to operate on diversion between 10:00 and 22:00.
  • West Midlands Metro services are expected to be suspended between Edgbaston Village and Grand Central from 10:00 until the end of service.

Stay informed

  • We advise anybody travelling in or around the city centre on Thursday to check updates from Transport for West Midlands and individual public transport providers for up-to-date service information.
