Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 29, the Laken Riley Act:

"Throughout the past four years, we have watched traffickers, dangerous criminals, and cartels take advantage of the Biden Administration's open border policies. As a result, innocent Americans, like student Laken Riley, have been violently murdered by illegal immigrants who entered our nation unvetted. This cannot go on," said Congressman Cole. "Today, I voted in favor of the Laken Riley Act which will require the DHS to detain illegal immigrants who have committed certain crimes - a policy that could have possibly saved Laken Riley's life. I am so glad to see this bill pass the House today, as it is past time that we end this ongoing border catastrophe once and for all."
