Jun 9, 2026 | News

MidCountry Bank announced today that President and CEO Steve Meads will retire at the end of 2026, concluding a distinguished banking career spanning 40 years.

Meads has served as President and CEO of MidCountry Bank since September 2010. During his tenure, he has guided the bank's growth and strategic direction while strengthening its commitment to customers, employees, and the communities it serves. Prior to joining MidCountry Bank, Steve held several senior leadership roles, which included serving as CEO of a Twin Cities financial institution.

Throughout his leadership, Meads has played an instrumental role in MidCountry Bank's success, overseeing significant financial growth, record-setting corporate charitable contributions, and expansion into new business lines. He has also led two bank mergers, the redevelopment of the Minnetonka branch and successfully navigated the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, while achieving the highest Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rating of "Outstanding."

"After years of leading MidCountry Bank, I look back with gratitude for the people who made this journey meaningful - our team members whose dedication sets the standard, our customers who place their trust in us every day, and the communities that continue to inspire our work," said Steve Meads. "As I prepare for the next chapter, my priority remains unchanged: to ensure a steady, thoughtful transition that positions the bank for continued success well beyond 2026."

MidCountry Bank has initiated a search for its next President and CEO and has engaged an executive search firm to assist with the process.

In retirement, Steve looks forward to traveling to new destinations, spending more time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and serving on various community-focused boards.

MidCountry Bank extends its deepest appreciation to Steve Meads for his years of dedicated leadership and service.
