The official visit of Deputy Prime Minister Filip Ivanović to the Republic of Argentina concluded with the ceremonial inauguration of the new premises of the Embassy of Montenegro in Buenos Aires, held in the presence of a large number of descendants of Montenegrin emigrants and representatives of the Montenegrin community in Argentina.
On this occasion, a reception was organised, bringing together descendants of emigrants from Buenos Aires as well as from other parts of the country, including the provinces of Chaco, Córdoba, and other areas with a significant Montenegrin diaspora. The strong turnout once again confirmed the close connection of the Montenegrin community in Argentina with their homeland and their interest in strengthening relations with Montenegro.
Addressing those present, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović extended words of welcome and gratitude for preserving tradition and ties with Montenegro, emphasising that the new embassy should serve as an open and accessible space for gathering and cooperation. He stressed that Montenegro highly values the contribution of its emigrants and their descendants in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.
Those present were also addressed by Gordan Stojović, former Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of Argentina and now a Member of Parliament and President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Argentina, as well as Miroslav Radojičić, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Montenegro in Buenos Aires. They highlighted the importance of maintaining continuity of cooperation with the Montenegrin community in Argentina and the active role of the embassy in this process.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to recall their origins and historical ties with Montenegro, renew contacts, and further strengthen cooperation with the Embassy in Buenos Aires, with the aim of continuing joint activities and reinforcing links between Montenegro and its diaspora in Argentina. Additional symbolism was given to the event by the fact that Buenos Aires was Montenegro's first diplomatic address on the American continent, confirming the long-standing connection between the two countries and the enduring importance of Argentina in Montenegro's diplomatic history.
