For more than two decades, the Lipscomb Community Chorus has offered an opportunity for individuals who enjoy singing to work on new music and to be a part of a chorus.
The Lipscomb Community Chorus will begin its 27th season Jan. 4, 2026, with its first rehearsal. The chorus is an a cappella ensemble, and anyone interested in joining this group is invited to participate. Auditions are not required. The chorus is led by Robert King, director of fine arts and of the high school choirs at Lipscomb Academy.
Rehearsals begin Sunday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Lipscomb Academy Chorus Room in Harding Hall, located on the Lipscomb Academy campus at 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville. The season will culminate with a concert Sunday, March 1 at the Church of Christ in Green Hills at 4 p.m. along with the Lipscomb University and Lipscomb Academy High School choruses. The 2026 rehearsals will be Sundays from 2-3:45 p.m. on Jan. 4-Feb. 22.. There is no membership fee to participate.
"The singing of a cappella sacred music by choruses has long been an important part of the Lipscomb community," said King. "Individuals who love to sing have always found here a place to share that talent with each other in choral ensembles. That is why LUCC was formed. Those who always wanted to sing in a chorus can join with those who have done so before and want to continue that love for choral music."
"We would especially enjoy welcoming former choral singers, but no experience or prior Lipscomb connection is required. All are welcome," said King.
King came to Lipscomb in 1984 to direct the high school choir. He also serves as director of the Nashville Youth Choir, which is part of the Nashville Children's Choir in the Belmont University School of Music Academy program. His wife, Donna, is a faculty member in the Lipscomb University School of Music.
