On January 6, Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas hosted the Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Cooperation Project Exhibition and Watermelon Tasting Reception. Her Excellency Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, Yan Jiarong, Permanent Secretary of Office of the Prime Minister Mr. Sturrup, Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Strachan, Representative of the Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources Mr. Gibson, Executive Chairman of Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation Mr. Pickstock attended the event and tasted watermelons and vegetables produced from the Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Demonstration Farm. Director General of Hunan Foreign Affairs Office Mr. Xu Zhengxian delivered a video remarks.

Ambassador Yan commended Hunan Province and Linshi Company's contributions to China-Bahamas agricultural cooperation, and stated that as China achieved greatly in agricultural modernization, China is willing to continuously share China's advanced concepts and technologies with brotherly countries in the Global South, including The Bahamas. She expected more China-Bahamas cooperation achievements in agricultural field.

Representatives from various agencies of The Bahamas spoke highly of achievements made by the Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Demonstration Farm, and expressed sincere gratitude to China for donation and assistance of agricultural machinery, technology sharing and capacity building. Further exchanges and cooperation on food security are expected between the two countries.
