Moldovan driving licences can be exchanged in France without exams starting 1 March

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the French Republic will be able, starting 1 March, to exchange their Moldovan driving licence for a French one without having to take either the theoretical or practical exams.

The facilitation applies to drivers holding category B licences for passenger cars with fewer than 10 seats and a maximum authorised mass of up to 3.5 tonnes, issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova after 1 January 2020.

This opportunity becomes a reality after France completed the internal procedures required for the entry into force of the bilateral agreement on the reciprocal exchange of driving licences, signed by the Governments of the Republic of Moldova and the French Republic.

The agreement significantly simplifies life for Moldovan citizens in France by removing the costs and time associated with taking new driving tests.
