Lakeland Police Department is Seeking Ordained Clergy for Volunteer Chaplain Program

LAKELAND, FL (October 15, 2025) Are you an ordained minister seeking to bring your pastoral calling into a vital field of service? The Lakeland Police Department is seeking ordained clergy with a heart for service and community to join our dedicated team as Volunteer Police Chaplains.

As a Chaplain, you'll play a vital role in providing emotional and spiritual support to officers, department staff, and members of our community during times of crisis and need. Police chaplains serve in a unique and deeply impactful role. They respond to critical incidents, assist with death notifications, provide counsel to department personnel and their families, offer support for community members affected by crime, and act as a liaison between the department, faith communities, and local social service agencies.

The Chaplaincy Program requires volunteers:

• Are ordained and are in good ecclesiastical standing with your denomination.
• Pass a background investigation.
• Are willing to participate in various offered training and demonstrate a willingness to become familiar with law enforcement culture and ethics.
• Are available to respond to emergencies and critical incidents.
• Are able to maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and respect for all faiths.
• Demonstrate emotional resilience, maturity, and pastoral sensitivity.
• Work as a good team member.
