Pueblo Police Arrest Suspect of Alleged Criminal Mischief on Several Charges

Pueblo, CO- On July 22, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m., Pueblo Police officers were dispatched to a business in the 4000 block of West Northern Avenue on a report of a vehicle accident. The reporting party stated that a red vehicle crashed into a kiosk at the store. As officers were en route, the reporting party stated to the Communication Center that the driver was attempting to steal the kiosk.

An officer arrived on the scene and observed the driver, later identified as David Alam, 24, attempting to load the change machine for the carwash into the trunk of the vehicle. When Alam noticed the officer approaching, he dropped the machine and attempted to flee the area by driving through a field east of the store towards Northern Avenue. The suspect failed to gauge the depth of the drainage ditch accurately and ended up getting his vehicle stuck. Alam then attempted to flee on foot.

The responding officer pursued the suspect on foot, and he surrendered after being warned of an impending taser deployment and was arrested. Officers learned that the suspect caused over $20,000 in damage to the car wash and change machine.

Alam was arrested and booked in the Pueblo County Detention Center (PCDC) for the charges of Class 4 Felony Criminal Mischief ($20,000 - $100,000), Class 5 Felony 3rd Degree Burglary, Careless Driving, Displaying Fictitious Plates, Failure to Present Valid Insurance, and Failure to Appear and is still in the PCDC on both a no-bond and a $3.00 personal recognizance bond.
