On July 24, the Chinese Embassy in Tonga held the awarding ceremony for the Tonga round of the "China Through My Lens" video competition, and networking party with the Tonga-China Student Alumni Association. Contest winners and representatives of the alumni association attended.
In his award address, Ambassador Liu Weimin stated that hosting the "China Through My Lens" competition was a significant part of implementing the consensus measures of the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting. He noted that the winning entries featured distinct themes, exquisite production, and deep resonance, vividly capturing the profound friendship between China and Tonga - embodying the spirit of "a bosom friend afar brings a distant land near." Ambassador Liu expressed hope that the contestants and alumni association members would pay more visits to China, experiencing an authentic, multidimensional, and comprehensive China. He encouraged them to continue serving as bridges and bonds to contribute to the friendly development of China-Tonga relations.
The event was filled with a warm and lively atmosphere. Award winners and representatives from the Tonga-China Student Alumni Association delivered speeches expressing their appreciation for Chinese culture, as well as their confidence and expectations for the further expansion and deepening of China-Tonga relations.
