Bree Ekhoff Named Colleague of the Month at Decatur Memorial Hospital

Bree Ekhoff, a patient discharge specialist at Decatur Memorial Hospital, has been named Colleague of the Month.

Ekhoff supports patient discharges by coordinating with insurance companies, updating facilities regarding referrals, completing screenings, managing phone calls and helping maintain complex care lists.

Colleagues say her organization, attention to detail and dedication help ensure patients move through the discharge process as smoothly as possible. Her work supports not only the Case Management department but also nurses and teams throughout the hospital.

"Bree is the heart of our department," wrote the nominator. "She assists with every single discharge from DMH. Our team and the whole hospital truly benefit from Bree's dedicated hard work and attention to detail."

The nomination also praised Ekhoff's commitment to the Memorial Health people first value.
