Twiggs Co: Upcoming Traffic Shift for SR 96
New Traffic shift will begin for November 10, 2025.
This traffic shift is planned for Monday November 10, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM EST and will take 1 day to install.
The traffic shift is planned on SR 96, beginning at the SR 358 intersection and extending east of CR 288/Crossroads Corner in Twiggs County. SR 358 approaches SR 96; a slight lane shift to the right will occur, away from a closed construction zone adjacent to the roadway. The closed construction zone will also include the northernmost portion of CR 196/Longstreet Road near its intersection with SR 358. Approximately 500 feet of CR 196/Longstreet Road will close between SR 358 and CR 288/Crossroads Corner. Except for existing utilities, there are no other noticeable facilities or homes along the closed section of CR 196/Longstreet Road. Motorists will be detoured onto CR 288/Crossroads Corner to access CR 196/Longstreet Road from SR 358 and vice versa.
The northernmost 500-ft section of CR 196/Longstreet Road will remain closed until its intersection with SR 358 is reconstructed and suitable for the traveling public. Honey Drive, which is a private road connected to CR 288/Crossroads Corner, will not be affected.
Traffic Control Message Boards & advanced warning signage will be utilized to alert the traveling public on all affected routes.
Advisory: Motorists should avoid the area and take an alternate route. Any updates or changes to the schedule will be posted on Facebook and Twitter @GDOTWest. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through these zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
