Shooting on Wellesley Leaves One Person Deceased and Another Injured

Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 3:08 p.m.

On March 22nd, 2026 just after 7:00 am, Spokane police officers responded to the area of 1900 E. Wellesley Avenue. 911 callers reported an altercation followed by gunshots.

When officers arrived, they located two male victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims had life threatening injuries and officers provided medical aid until fire arrived and took over. Both victims were transported to the hospital for further treatment. One of the males succumbed to his injuries despite life saving measures.

Officers gathered witness statements and secured the crime scene, closing two blocks of East Wellesley Avenue for several hours. Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was advised and took over the investigation.

At this time, the incident is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made. This appears to be an isolated event with no information of an ongoing active public threat.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner.
