The CBSS is set to provide training for the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance the abilities of diplomats and consular officers in identifying, assisting and protecting victims of human trafficking abroad.
On 27 November 2024, the CBSS Task Force against Trafficking in Human Beings (TF-THB) will conduct an online training session for the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Tallinn, focusing on human trafficking awareness and victim assistance.
This session, based on the updated CBSS Handbook for Embassies and Diplomatic Missions on How to Assist and Protect Victims of Human Trafficking, aims to sensitise Estonian diplomats and consular officers working abroad in embassies and consular missions.
The training is part of the anti-trafficking priority of the current Estonian CBSS Presidency, focusing on co-operation with third countries, namely Central Asian and Balkan regional anti-trafficking networks for tackling crimes of trafficking where the Baltic Sea Region is the destination.
The session in Tallinn will cover prevention, investigation and victim assistance, with a focus on migrant labour and individuals in prostitution.
This training marks the third such initiative the TF-THB has organised for CBSS Member State MFAs since 2023. A previous training was organised in Latvia in February 2024.
