Arkansas Democrats Demand Gov. Sanders Obey Court Order and Move Up Election Dates in New Legal Filing

LITTLE ROCK- Arkansas Democrats are releasing the following statement after our legal team filed a motion today to show cause that the Governor and Secretary of State should not be held in contempt of court.

Arkansas Democratic Party Chair Col. Marcus Jones (Ret.) said:

"Almost a week ago, the Governor and Secretary of State were ordered to move up the date for the special election in House District 70. They have taken no action and are openly defying the court order. Today, our legal team filed a motion demanding that Sanders and Jester follow the law or be held in contempt of court.

The hard-working Arkansans in House District 70 deserve representation as soon as possible. Gov. Sanders is attempting to drag out not only this Special Election, but also this lawsuit. It's unacceptable and unfair to the taxpayers who are paying for a government that they're not represented in.

Arkansas Democrats will not stop fighting for your right to representation under the law."
