Illinois Power Agency Publishes July 2026 Blog Post: What is Agrivoltaics

The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) has published a new blog post, What is Agrivoltaics?

Agrivoltaics, the practice of combining solar energy generation and agricultural activities on the same piece of land, is becoming more common across Illinois. By harvesting from the land and the sun at the same time, agrivoltaics presents a unique opportunity for maximizing both solar energy and farming. The blog explores the concept of agrivoltaics and highlights a real-life example of the practice in Illinois.

The post also examines how agrivoltaics is incorporated in the Illinois Shines Community Solar category, which currently supports 175 agrivoltaics projects that are either energized, under development, or in the program pipeline.
