Police were called to the University of Manitoba campus regarding a man with a weapon who was threatening people at the track and field stadium on Chancellor Matheson Road.

On July 12th, 2025, around 11:30 a.m., campus security attempted to vacate a man who was acting aggressively in the viewing stands of the stadium. He refused to cooperate and threatened three security officers and a coach on the field with a pointed hand-fashioned weapon and a rock. Nobody was injured.

Officers from the West District with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST) and K9 Unit located him hiding in a nearby retention pond, but he refused to come out. After about an hour of unsuccessful attempts to communicate with the man, members of TST took him into custody. It has been determined that he has no connection to the University of Manitoba.

His erratic behaviour continued and police requested a medical assessment.

Arbin Duku MUHAXHERI (45), was charged with the following offences and detained in custody:

  • Assault with a Weapon x 4
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 4
