TAMPA, FL. (March 24, 2026) - - The Tampa Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning. While the investigation remains active, preliminary information indicates this was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another. There is no ongoing threat to the community.

Just after 1:00 am, an adult male transported a female with a gunshot wound from the 1500 block of E. 5th Ave to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the woman tragically passed away from her injuries. Investigation into the circumstances in on-going.

Detectives are in the early stages of this active investigation. Based on preliminary evidence, this does not appear to be a random act of violence. All parties involved have been identified and are cooperating with investigators. As Detectives work to notify next of kin, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
