TOUR BUS COLLISION IN TOKYO

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, is closely monitoring the situation following a tour bus collision that occurred on 5 April 2025 on the Chuo Expressway in Hachioji, western Tokyo.

The incident, which took place at approximately 10.15am near the entrance of the Kobotoke Tunnel, involved two buses carrying a total of 47 passengers which were mostly foreign nationals, travelling together from JR Tokyo Station en route to Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture. According to local authorities, the incident occurred when one bus rear-ended the other.

The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo has confirmed that five Malaysian nationals were on board the two buses. All five sustained minor injuries. After receiving treatment and check-up at hospitals, they have been sent back to their hotel.
