WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Monday, Congressman Greg Casar announced he has hired Amy Emerick Clerkin to be his next Chief of Staff.
For more than 20 years, Emerick Clerkin has served in Congress, including 16 years as Chief of Staff to the late Rep. Raúl Grijalva. She served as Grijalva's Chief while he led the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which Casar now chairs. Emerick Clerkin holds a Bachelors of Arts from Lafayette College, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management.
"I am thrilled to welcome Amy to the team," said Casar. "While working for Raúl Grijalva, a giant of the progressive movement and a personal hero of mine, Amy has developed a sterling reputation as a skilled manager and strategist who knows Capitol Hill as well as anyone. Texas working families will have a great champion in her."
Casar's current chief of staff, Stephanie Trinh, will depart the office in March. Trinh has served as Casar's chief of staff during his entire tenure in Congress. She was previously senior advisor to Austin Mayor Steve Adler and policy director for Casar on the Austin City Council.
"From the Austin City Council to the halls of Congress, Stephanie has been by my side as a trusted advisor, shrewd strategist, and zealous advocate for policies that actually make peoples' lives better," said Casar. "So many Texas families are better off thanks to Stephanie - from thousands of people who were protected from eviction, to thousands who can afford their housing, to others who have higher wages and benefits or a union job, to others who just have a safe sidewalk to take their kid to school on. I am very proud of what we have accomplished together and deeply grateful for her work."
