Stanislaus State offered the best of both worlds for Angel Khella: the opportunity to stay close to the family she loves while building a future defined by ambition, discipline and authenticity.
A Turlock native and graduate of Pitman High School, Khella chose Stan State because it allowed her to pursue a college degree close to home.
As a first-generation college student majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing, Khella pushed herself to make the most of every opportunity. She balanced work and school while completing her bachelor's degree in just three years, an achievement that reflects both focus and perseverance.
"I hope that pushing yourself to work harder is an inspiration to more students," Khella said. "Anything is possible, especially if you want something so bad."
Some of Khella's most meaningful memories came through the relationships she built while working on campus.
"The friendships I created while working as a student assistant" stand out most, Khella said.
Through her roles in Student Leadership, Engagement and Belonging and Student Affairs Operations, Khella became known for her dedication to the campus community and her willingness to support others. She credits Miranda Stokes with helping her feel understood and motivated throughout her journey.
"She always understood me as a student and person and has always made me want to work harder," Khella said.
Stokes, a senior administrative analyst in Student Affairs, said Khella's hard work and resilience make her a strong example of what it means to be a Warrior.
"Angel brings determination and perseverance to everything she does," Stokes wrote. "Her drive has allowed her to complete her bachelor's degree in just three years by taking on extra units and enrolling in summer courses, an accomplishment that speaks to her discipline and focus."
Khella said one of the most powerful lessons she learned at Stan State was the importance of staying true to herself.
"Being authentic and yourself is something no one can take away from you," Khella said.
After graduation, Khella plans to attend San José State University's MBA program. As she prepares for the next chapter, she hopes her story reflects the talent, grit and promise of students from the Central Valley.
"I want this to prove that the Central Valley is just as strong as the rest of the state," Khella said.
