REP LIEU VOTES IN FAVOR OF PREVENTING UNILATERAL MILITARY ACTION IN LEBANON

REP LIEU VOTES IN FAVOR OF PREVENTING UNILATERAL MILITARY ACTION IN LEBANON

June 30, 2026
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after voting in favor of the War Powers Resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities in Lebanon.
"The Constitution clearly grants Congress the authority to declare war, but I don't trust this administration to follow the Constitution. We've already seen the trump Administration take unconstitutional actions in Venezuela and Iran, and the President has continued to make broad threats against other countries. Americans do not want forever wars, and any case for entering into hostilities should be brought before Congress for an open debate and vote. These are some of the reasons why I voted for today's War Powers Resolution as it pertains to Lebanon, and why I previously voted to stop U.S. military actions in Iran and Venezuela without congressional input."
