Shared Reality is coming to the Gateway District, and we have the latest on what's happening as the build progresses at Cosm Cleveland.

A new era of entertainment is emerging in Ohio as Cosm Cleveland comes together in the Gateway District. The city's newest destination for experiencing immersive live sports, art, entertainment, and education is officially under construction.

What was once a parking lot on Huron Road East is now where Cosm Cleveland stands. Rising across from Rocket Arena and down the street from Progressive Field, Cosm Cleveland is joining a thriving sports and entertainment district in downtown.

Expanding on the heels of Cosm's four established venues in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and Detroit, Cleveland is officially on track to become home to Cosm's fifth venue. With a 100-foot, 12k-resolution LED wall-to-wall display, Cosm Cleveland is set to be the largest Cosm venue built to date and expected to open in 2027.

And construction is approximately 1/3 of the way complete, marking an exciting milestone for the anchor of Bedrock's Rock Block development in downtown Cleveland.

Hear From Senior Project Manager, Construction: Myles Ciolek

From the groundbreaking to the grand opening, there are a few people along for the entire ride when it comes to building one of Cosm's unique venues. Myles Ciolek, Senior Project Manager of Construction, is one of those people.

As a part of his role, he oversees the full lifecycle of building a Cosm venue. Managing budgets, schedules, and project teams while working with architects and contractors, Myles wears a lot of hats that make him an expert in all things construction-related at Cosm.

And he has the inside scoop to what fans could look forward to as Cosm Cleveland's build progresses.

What are the major milestones Cosm Cleveland has reached that fans can get excited about?

We've hit several exciting milestones on the Cleveland project recently! Structural steel is complete, we've received our building permit, and we're kicking off installation of the dome base ring this week, two weeks ahead of schedule. We're also on track to have the building fully enclosed by the end of October, which is a major milestone as we head into the winter months.

What does it mean to get a building "closed in" and why is it important for Cosm Cleveland?

Getting a building "closed in" before winter is all about planning, coordination, and timing, and that process actually starts long before construction begins. It starts in the design phase, where we need to hit critical drawing and design deadlines to allow enough time for city reviews, approvals, and permitting. From there, it's about keeping construction on schedule through major milestones like foundations, structural steel, and exterior framing and sheathing.

Closing in the building essentially means getting the exterior enclosed and weather-tight so we can protect the interior from the elements. This is especially important in Cleveland, where winter weather can significantly impact construction. Reaching this milestone allows us to shift our focus to interior construction, maintain productivity through the winter, and stay on track for the milestones leading up to opening.

What can you share about the build of The Dome so far?

One of the most exciting developments is that we're officially kicking off the dome installation this week, two weeks ahead of schedule! Cleveland will also feature our first 30-meter LED dome, making this a particularly exciting milestone for the team. Seeing the dome begin to take shape is always one of the most rewarding parts of these projects because it's when you really start to see the unique Cosm experience come to life.

What about Cosm will stand out in downtown Cleveland once completed?

I think one of the biggest things that will make Cosm Cleveland stand out is its location. We're right in the heart of downtown Cleveland's Gateway District, directly across from Rocket Arena, just a short walk from Progressive Field, and adjacent to East 4th Street, which is one of the city's most popular restaurant and entertainment destinations.

What's really exciting is how Cosm will help connect all of these areas, creating another destination for people to visit before or after games, concerts, and other downtown events, while also bringing an entirely new entertainment experience to the city year-round.

We're also taking what was previously a surface parking lot and transforming it into something completely unique. From conversations I've had with locals, there's a lot of excitement about seeing this property developed and bringing something like Cosm to Cleveland. And we're just the first piece of Bedrock's larger Rock Block development, so it's exciting to know that we're helping kick off what will eventually be an even bigger transformation of this part of downtown.
