On 6 March 2026, Consul-General Dr RUAN Zongze met with Mayor Tom Tate at the Gold Coast City Council and held a friendly exchange on bilateral engagement and sister-city cooperation.
Dr RUAN stated that over the past three years, China-Australia relations have fully improved and shown a positive momentum, benefiting both countries and their peoples. China's 15th Five-Year Plan will certainly create more opportunities for cooperation between China and Australia. The vitality of China-Australia relations lies at the local level. He expressed hope that Mr. mayor will continue to support cooperation in areas such as bilateral trade, economy, and education.
Mr. Tate said that sister-city relations carry the goodwill and friendship of the two peoples. He expressed willingness to continue promoting deeper bilateral cooperation and friendship among the next generation.
