TalkTalk delivers a Better Way to Wi-Fi with launch of TalkTalk U

• TalkTalk U changes the game with shift to need not speed
• Tailor-made setup focuses on connectivity around the home and automatically flexes speed

TalkTalk has unveiled a new way of thinking about Wi-Fi, with a major new product offering which places connectivity around the home at the centre of its offer to customers, rather than the usual focus on speed.

TalkTalk U is built around what customers actually need from their Wi-Fi provider - an in-home set up that delivers a blanket of coverage throughout their home - and speed that flexes as they need it, to cover all their streaming, gaming and working.

TalkTalk U addresses what matters most to customers and is in response to an industry which is bogged down with an overwhelming amount of jargon. It gives consumers a custom set-up that removes the need for them to worry about annoying blindspots in the house or what speed they need, instead seamlessly flexing to ensure they are always on the right speed for them, all for one price.

Announcing TalkTalk U at the Connected Britain 2025 event in London, Susie Buckridge, TalkTalk CEO, said: "We're shaking up our outdated industry by starting to change the way we talk about our products with customers - TalkTalk U is all about need not speed.

"The industry has converged around ever-increasing speed packages, implying that these alone are the answer, but the fact is that the majority of homes don't need more than about 80 or 100mps to cover the average nine connected devices^[1].

"Customers tell us what really matters to them is how their Wi-Fi works around the home: they want to be able to stream TV episodes and films seamlessly, have video calls that don't drop out, and scroll TikTok without endless buffering.

"It has been years since we saw any change in the way Wi-Fi is sold, but TalkTalk U allows customers to never have to think about Wi-Fi. It just works, all around their home, automatically flexing with changing needs, no matter what is demanded of it."

Customers' TalkTalk U journey begins by simply providing their home address, TalkTalk U then does the work, using property data to ensure that whatever the size and whatever construction type, customers are receiving the right amount of equipment in the right places tailored to their home.

Customers don't need to worry about choosing the right speed package for them, as, once connected, TalkTalk U uses its smart algorithm to monitor and seamlessly flex their speed behind the scenes as their demands change, ensuring it's always more than enough for what they need without the need to change package or contract.

In addition, TalkTalk U customers will be amongst the first to benefit from TalkTalk's new customer management system, enabled by Kraken Technologies, which is improving customer services by giving customer service agents all the tools they need to help customers end-to-end.

The beta version of TalkTalk U begins its roll out this month. Initially available to customers in CityFibre areas, and expanding to other networks by the end of the year.

By customers providing their postcode, TalkTalk U is able to instantly provide an accurate and bespoke recommendation on the need for additional home kit, such as extenders. This is based on industry data on property size and construction, underpinned by TalkTalk's 22 years in the business.

How does TalkTalk U monitor usage?

TalkTalk's network data centre monitors usage remotely. Our smart tech then analyses that data and works out whether a customer needs to be moved to a higher speed in the background, before they've even realised it themselves. It really is as simple as that.

U starts from £28. If Wi-Fi Extenders are required, depending on home size, an additional charge is payable.
