The City of Santa Fe released the 2026 Mayor's Homelessness Summit Report, outlining key findings, community priorities, and recommended next steps to address homelessness in Santa Fe.
Hosted by the City's Youth and Family Services Division on June 29, 2026, the summit brought together more than 300 participants, including government leaders, service providers, housing experts, community organizations, individuals with lived experience of homelessness, and residents.
The summit included daytime discussions with community partners and an evening public forum, giving participants opportunities to share perspectives, identify challenges, and explore potential solutions.
Key Findings
Participants identified several shared priorities:
Expand housing and shelter options, including low-barrier shelters and Micro Communities.
Prioritize Housing First, an approach that helps people access stable housing while connecting them with supportive services.
Strengthen coordination among service providers, government agencies, and community partners.
Improve access to services, including behavioral health care, homelessness prevention and housing assistance.
Increase accountability through clear goals, sustainable funding and measurable outcomes.
Recommended Next Steps
The report outlines immediate, intermediate, and long-term recommendations for the City and its partners.
These include advancing the Richards Avenue Micro Community, developing a public-facing homelessness dashboard, expanding shelter capacity, strengthening housing partnerships and developing the City's first Encampment Management Policy.
The findings will also help guide the City's five-year Strategic Plan for Homelessness.
