On the morning of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, officers assigned to East Precinct conducted a crime suppression operation in the area of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. The operation targeted persistent open-air drug activity and ongoing community concerns related to narcotics trafficking and related criminal behavior.
Working in coordination, officers identified suspected drug transactions and relayed real-time information to uniformed personnel, who conducted enforcement actions. The effort also included training officers and new recruits who volunteered to assist, reflecting a department-wide commitment to proactive policing and neighborhood safety, as well as an effort to mentor newer PPB officers by teaching advanced investigative techniques.
During the operation, officers gathered actionable intelligence that led to the identification of a drug trafficker wanted on multiple felony warrants. Investigators developed a coordinated operational plan and safely took the suspect into custody at the Hazel Heights apartments in the 12600 block of Southeast Stark Street (case number 26-55074).
At the time of arrest, officers recovered fentanyl and a substantial amount of cash. Based on probable cause, investigators obtained a court-authorized search warrant for the suspect's residence.
During the subsequent search, officers seized:
The evidence indicates the suspect was engaged in ongoing narcotics distribution and identity-related financial crimes.
The suspect, who is not being identified for investigative reasons, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges including Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Fentanyl, Aggravated Identity Theft, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and multiple outstanding felony warrants. Due to the quantity of narcotics involved, the suspect's criminal history, and the presence of a firearm, the case may also be reviewed for potential federal prosecution.
This coordinated enforcement effort disrupted active drug trafficking, removed dangerous narcotics from the community, and halted an identity-fraud operation impacting potential victims. The professionalism and teamwork demonstrated throughout the operation reflect an ongoing commitment to improving neighborhood safety and responding to community concerns.
The Portland Police Bureau encourages community members to report suspicious activity and continue partnering with law enforcement to help keep neighborhoods safe.
