MADISON, Wis. - This week, the Trump Administration is expected to announce a suite of rollbacks that bolster the coal and fossil fuel industries, threatening to keep our coal plants online longer and make our environment and climate dirtier. The administration is expected to revoke the Environmental Protection Agency's longstanding greenhouse gas endangerment finding under the federal Clean Air Act, and roll back the mercury and air toxics standards for power plantsand greenhouse gas emission standards for vehicles.
In response, Elizabeth Ward, Sierra Club Wisconsin Chapter Director, released the following statement:
"This is yet another move in a long line of efforts by the Trump Administration to cuddle up to coal and the fossil fuel industries. This decision endangers the safety and health of our communities, and puts lives in jeopardy, while giving a handout to corporate polluters who poison our water and air. Wisconsinites are already struggling with everyday expenses like rent, groceries, and keeping the lights on. These rollbacks do nothing more than worsen our quality of life and make energy costs more expensive. Trump continues to remind us that his top priority is lining the pockets of corporate executives and making everyday Americans pay for it."
