City of Perris to Launch Military Banner Program with Inaugural Ceremony

PERRIS, Calif. (September 18, 2026) - The City of Perris invites residents and families to join the inaugural Military Banner Ceremony on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Perris Theater Lot, located at 119 South D Street.

Hosted by the City's Economic Development Department, the ceremony will mark the official launch of the City of Perris Military Banner Program, a new initiative dedicated to recognizing local military service members and veterans for their service to the nation. Approximately 20 individuals will be recognized as part of the program's inaugural group, with commemorative banners featuring each honoree to be installed throughout the community.

"This program gives our City another meaningful way to recognize the men and women from our community who have answered the call to serve," said Mayor Michael M. Vargas. "These banners will serve as a visible reminder of their service and sacrifice, and I am proud that Perris will honor our local military members and veterans in a way that residents can see and appreciate throughout our community."

The inaugural ceremony will bring together honorees, their families, City leaders, and community members to celebrate the launch of the program and recognize its first participants. Complimentary food, drinks, and promotional items will also be available during the event.

The Military Banner Ceremony is open to the community, and residents are encouraged to attend with family and friends as the City commemorates the beginning of this new tradition and recognizes the local men and women who have served our country.
