Dayton is prepared for potential winter storm

The City of Dayton is prepared for a potential winter storm that forecasters are predicting for Sunday, Jan. 5 and Monday, Jan. 6.

A review of weather forecast information indicates the anticipated event will create hazardous driving conditions Sunday afternoon through early- to mid-week (week of Jan. 6). The Department of Public Works is scheduling a full winter operation deployment Sunday at 2 p.m. Therefore, 44 primary snowplow drivers will report for a 16-hour work shift to treat streets and will then rotate 16-hour shifts as needed.

Central Business District (Downtown): Forecasted snow accumulations, in combination with below average temperatures, will make it difficult to melt snow in the CBD. We anticipate a haul-out operation following the storm as snow will be plowed to the middle of the street (in parking meter zones) and loaded into dump trucks for removal.
