Temporary Road Closure as Denver Builds Travel and Safety Improvements

DENVER - Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) would like the public to be aware of an upcoming closure of W. Jewell Avenue at Southbound Santa Fe Drive. The closure is accommodating assembly of the main bridge span for the new West Jewell Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge over Santa Fe. Detour signs will direct people to West Evans Avenue to reach West Jewell Avenue and Overland Golf Course (see attached map).

The closure of W. Jewell Ave. will begin on Monday, April 27, and last until late July when the new bridge span will be set in place.

The West Jewell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Bridge was funded by the voter-approved Elevate Denver Bond. When complete, it will provide a safe way for people to walk, bike, and roll across Santa Fe Dr. and a more comfortable alternative to using Evans Avenue, which is a busy corridor for cars. The 370-foot-long, 30-foot-high, 12-foot-wide structure will connect neighborhoods east and west of Santa Fe Dr. and provide a new and convenient way to access light rail at the RTD Evans Station.
