Fairmont State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Rose as Vice President of Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He brings more than 30 years of financial leadership to the role, including stints at West Virginia University and WVU Medicine. Rose's deep connection to the region extends back to his undergraduate studies, when he earned a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairmont State.
"Greg's combination of deep financial expertise, proven higher education leadership, and deep personal connection to Fairmont State make him an exceptional addition to our team," said President Mike Davis. "As an alumnus, he understands both the history and the promise of this institution. We are excited to welcome him back to Fairmont State and are confident his leadership will further strengthen us financially, positively impacting our campus, our students, and the broader community."
Rose has built a distinguished career in higher education finance and administration-Fairmont State will be the third institution at which he serves as CFO. Currently, he is Vice President of Administration and CFO at Hillsborough College in Tampa, FL. There, he has overseen a $200+ million budget, led enterprise system implementations, strengthened financial controls, and advanced institution-wide operational improvements. Before that, he served as CFO at Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, PA.

Rose's executive career includes experience guiding complex financial operations, capital planning, enterprise resource planning implementations, modernizing operations, and leading cross-functional teams. Known for his collaborative leadership style and data-informed decision-making, Rose has served as a trusted advisor to presidents, boards, and senior leadership teams.
As Vice President of Finance and CFO, Rose will provide strategic oversight of the University's financial and administrative operations, supporting institutional priorities while ensuring fiscal integrity, transparency, and sustainability.
Rose will officially assume his new role on July 5, 2026, marking a meaningful homecoming and a new chapter in the University's continued growth and momentum.
