The 8th Street Reconstruction project is anticipated to shift into Stage 2 construction during the week of June 22, 2026. This stage encompasses improvements on 8th Street from west of Douglas Street to the west side of Pierce Street. Douglas Street from 8th Street to 9th Street will be signed and painted for two-way traffic to maintain access to all businesses.
Construction on this project started in late April 2026 and will occur in multiple phases through the project area with the anticipated completion in October 2026.

Traffic signal modifications including the removal of signals at Pierce Street and 8th Street will be completed with the project. Additional street scaping with trees and colored concrete will also be done with the project
The project will be completed in 3 stages with a consistent project detour route along 7th Street during all stages. North/South traffic on Pierce Street and Nebraska Street will be maintained but will have lane restrictions. Pedestrian access will be maintained during all construction activities.
