On 23 and 25 October, H.E. Consul General Wang Yu attended the gala commemorating the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China and the 25th anniversary of "Both sides of the Strait are one family", and the forum commemorating the establishment of "Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration".
Wang Yu noted that the restoration of Taiwan on 25 October 1945, stands as a historical testament to the joint struggle of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait against Japanese aggression. It represents a direct outcome of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global anti-fascist war, and constitutes an important component of the post-World War II international order. The historical and legal fact that Taiwan belongs to China is beyond dispute. Realizing China's complete reunification is a shared aspiration of the Chinese nation. It is an inevitable trend and a matter of righteousness.
More than 500 members of the Chinese community in NSW attended the events. They expressed that they would firmly uphold the one-China principle and actively contribute to advancing China's reunification.
