Bridge deck work planned for US 87 project

LUBBOCK - Overnight construction work is scheduled for the US 87/FM 41 interchange next week. On Monday night (Nov. 2) FM 41, at US 87, will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to allow crews to safely place the deck on the new bridge. Both east-and westbound traffic will be detoured around the area. FM 41 is expected to reopen by 7 a.m., Tuesday morning (Nov. 3).

Also starting Monday, segments of the US 87 frontage road, within the project limits, will be reduced to one-lane. The lane reductions will allow crews to continue work on the new bridge retaining walls, place curb and gutter, and perform additional concrete work. The inside frontage road lanes on both the north-and southbound frontage roads will be closed and traffic reduced to one-lane.

All work will take place weather permitting and is part of a safety project to build a new bridge at the U87, FM 41 intersection.
