This morning, Aer Lingus and the Allegheny County Airport Authority announced that nonstop flights from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to Dublin Airport will start in May 2026. Flights on Aer Lingus will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays every month except for January and February.
In September, the Allegheny Conference was proud to lead a delegation of businesses and corporate leaders to Ireland to sell the region. That effort coincided with the Pittsburgh Steelers game in Dublin against the Minnesota Vikings and allowed us to leverage the connection between the two, and the passion of the Steelers' fan base.
During that visit, our delegation connected with Irish businesses and tourism agencies and pitched Pittsburgh's strengths in a variety of sectors that are thriving and growing. With that stage, we were able to showcase the collaboration for which Pittsburgh is known, and a hallmark of the Conference's work over the last 80 years.
It also allowed us to underscore for Aer Lingus that there is need and demand for flights to and from this region. Major Pittsburgh-based companies including BNY, Eaton, MSA Safety, PPG Industries, and UPMC have a presence in Ireland and deep roots that connect the two. Beyond the corporate world, other partnerships with Ireland organizations exist for the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh, Catalyst Connection, VisitPITTSBURGH, and the Pittsburgh Irish Business Network.
This work was also supported by State Senator Devlin Robinson who created an Ireland Trade Commission to foster stronger ties between Pennsylvania and Ireland. He was one of the biggest champions focused on securing state support for the new flight and destination.
We're proud to have been part of this successful effort, pitching Pittsburgh's strengths to potential partners. Aer Lingus' selection of PIT as a destination for direct flights and expansion of its transatlantic network is the latest development in this region's momentum and we look forward to all that's next.
