Rep. Stan Gunter Reappointed Chairman of House Judiciary Committee

ATLANTA - The Georgia House of Representatives' Committee on Assignments reappointed State Representative Stan Gunter (R-Blairsville) as the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

"I am honored to be chosen again to lead the House Judiciary Committee as Chairman," said Rep. Gunter. "I expect this year we will handle a multitude of important bills that will have our full attention as session proceeds."

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

The House Judiciary Committee considers a wide variety of measures relating to law, courts and judges and constitutional amendments. Any legislation that carries a possibility for civil penalties can be referred to the Judiciary Committee.

Representative Stan Gunter represents the citizens of District 8, which includes Towns and Union counties, as well as a portion of White County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial, Economic Development & Tourism, Health and Rules committees and as an Ex-Officio member of the Ethics and Judiciary Non-Civil committees.
