Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Tu-Pelo Avenue and River Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Yesterday, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires.
Tu-Pelo Avenue fire
At 4:14 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 200 block of Tu-Pelo Avenue.
At the scene, crews found smoke and flames coming from the house. They attacked the fire and declared it under control at 4:52 p.m.
All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
River Avenue fire
At 8:13 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a commercial building in the 200 block of River Avenue.
At the scene, crews found heavy black smoke coming from the building. Firefighters used a defensive strategy to attack the fire until they could switch to an offensive attack.
Firefighters declared the fire under control at 8:47 p.m. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation, and no damage estimates are available.
