This graduation season, residents at CoreCivic facilities across the country are celebrating completion of educational and vocational programs. This includes High School Equivalency diplomas and General Educational Development (GED) credentials, industry-recognized certificates, college degrees, and other reentry-success credentials.

Evidence shows participation in correctional educational programs reduces the likelihood of recidivism, and milestones like graduations can mark a turning point in an individual's rehabilitation journey.

Here is a look at graduates' achievements in education and programming this year:

Arizona

At Eloy Detention Center, nearly a dozen residents graduated from the Finding the Good Life program, with another group expected to graduate in June. The faith-based program helps participants explore their thoughts and ideas to support positive life changes.

At Red Rock Correctional Center, residents celebrated their graduations from the Legacy EV program and the Creative Hope Studios program. Legacy EV graduates earn industry-recognized certifications in electric vehicle maintenance, and Creative Hope Studios graduates gain skills in music production, podcasting, graphic design and more.

Colorado

At Crowley County Correctional Facility, more than 200 residents earned a GED, industry-recognized certifications from the Home Builders Institute and WeBuild program and completed rehabilitative programs.

Georgia

Seven residents at Wheeler Correctional Facility graduated from Brewton-Parker Christian University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Ohio

In late June, nearly 100 residents at Lake Erie Correctional Institution will graduate from various programs, including earning degrees from Ashland University, GEDs, industry-recognized certifications and more.

Tennessee

In July, residents at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center will be the first to graduate from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology carpentry program at the facility.
