Navy Ceremonial Guard

Nearly 8,000 National Guard troops were on duty as part of the sizeable interagency presence to ensure the transition of power, continuing a legacy that began in 1789 when their predecessors escorted George Washington to the first inauguration.
Deputizing Soldiers
Approximately 380 soldiers assigned to the Virginia National Guard and Pennsylvania National Guard were deputized by Ronald L. Carter, a marshal, in support of the upcoming 60th Presidential Inauguration, Jan. 18, 2025.
