On 15-16 September, FRA's Director was in Dublin to take part in the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission's inaugural annual conference, 'Leadership on Human Rights and Equality: A Time for Courage and Vision'.

The conference convened senior leaders from across Ireland to inform and identify actions to protect, promote and advance human rights and equality.

IHREC's senior management provided an overview of the current human rights and equality challenges facing Ireland and FRA provided the EU perspective. Discussions were had on preparations for the upcoming Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU that starts in July 2026.

In an afternoon workshop on embedding equality data into national data collection infrastructures, FRA presented its work in this area.

While in Dublin, the Director also held bilateral meetings with Eurofound's Executive Director, Ivailo Kalfin, IHREC's Chief Commissioner, Liam Herrick, EU Presidency Policy Unit Director at Ireland's Foreign Affairs Department, Mark Hanniffy, and Secretary General of Ireland's Children, Equality and Disability Department, Kevin McCarthy.
