Bettendorf and Moline Emergency Crews Respond to I-74 Bridge

March 23, 2026 - On Monday, March 23, 2026, Bettendorf Police and Fire Departments, along with Moline Police and Fire Departments, responded to the I-74 Bridge at approximately 10:30 a.m. for a report of a man in a mental health crisis on the pedestrian trail.

With the support of additional agencies, emergency crews from Bettendorf and Moline de-escalated the situation, and the man walked back down the pedestrian trail to the Illinois side with authorities.

No injuries have been reported. The pedestrian bridge was closed during this incident, but it's now back open.

This investigation is ongoing, and there will be no further updates.
