LAREDO, Texas-Given the forthcoming requirement by the Secretary of Finance of Tamaulipas for all Mexican citizens to update their vehicular license plate information, driving cards and stickers starting on January 6, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Laredo Port of Entry reminds SENTRI participants with Mexican vehicles to update and register their new vehicle plate information through SENTRI to avoid any delays.
"With the recent requirement to change license plates in the state of Tamaulipas, The Laredo Port of Entry Enrollment Center will be prepared to help SENTRI participants update their information in CBP systems, to ensure a smooth transition," said Supervisor Karla Salinas, Laredo Port of Entry.
The Laredo Port of Entry will implement measures to aid the transition process by allowing SENTRI participants a one-time entry through the SENTRI-designated facility, Gateway to the Americas Bridge, and report to the Laredo Enrollment Center at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge thereafter to make the required updates. Upon entry, the SENTRI participant must show proof of SENTRI enrollment and have pertinent information regarding the vehicle plate change. SENTRI participants may also update their information online at https://ttp.dhs.gov. Lastly, SENTRI participants may opt to make entry through any port of entry as a non- SENTRI participant.
As a reminder, the traveling public can monitor Border Wait Times via this link or also obtain the BWT app on their smartphone via Apple App Store and Google Play so that they can observe the wait times and make an informed decision on which bridge to use. These wait times are updated on an hourly basis.
