Come one, come all.
Everyone is welcome at UC Santa Barbara's upcoming GauchoFest, a community-wide event that fosters closer connections to the campus among not only alumni, but friends and neighbors, too.
Taking place on Commencement Green from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and bringing major celebratory vibes, the event will feature live music, an array of games, a photo booth, a staffed kids' zone for ages 12 and under, food trucks and local beer and wine.
The festivities are centered, though, around a robust lineup of bands headlined by a beloved act with UCSB roots. That would be ALO, or Animal Liberation Orchestra, led by multi-instrumentalist Zach Gill '97 (also known as fellow alum Jack Johnson's piano player) with Dan Lebowitz '98, Steve Adams '99 and Ezra Lipp. Also on the bill, more Gaucho legends: Munkafust, Whatever Forever, Salty Strings and DJ Darla Bea.
It's all part of the annual All Gaucho Reunion, being held for the first time in the fall with a renewed emphasis on the community beyond campus.
"This is such a beautiful time of year in Santa Barbara, and we're thrilled to welcome our alumni back to the place they once called home. But All Gaucho Reunion is about more than bringing alumni together - it's about celebrating the incredible community that makes UCSB special," said Samantha Putnam, executive director of UCSB Alumni. "And we really want our local community to know that GauchoFest is for you, too.
"So come join us on campus for live music, food, drinks and some genuine Gaucho pride. Bring your family, bring your friends and come enjoy the wonders of this beautiful campus we're lucky to have on our doorstep. And for those who register early, we'll even take care of parking!"
