New European Bauhaus Prizes 2026 – submit your applications now

The European Commission has opened applications for the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes 2026. Bringing together citizens, experts, businesses and public institutions, the NEB initiative seeks to develop solutions for sustainable living. The NEB Prizes and Boost 2026 are now open for projects and ideas that improve neighbourhoods and communities across Europe and beyond. In 2026, the NEB Prizes are extending beyond the EU, the Western Balkans and Ukraine. This year, for the first time, the list of countries eligible for NEB Prizes includes Moldova and also Japan and Brazil.

Better living space

The NEB brings together science, technology, art and culture to create better living spaces. Cities and communities face common challenges such as climate change, water shortages, demographic shifts, and housing pressure. The competition rewards projects and ideas that make neighbourhoods and communities more sustainable, inclusive and attractive. NEB encourages cooperation between communities and helps projects find EU funding while encouraging participation from young professionals and emerging talents.

Thanks to the strengthened international dimension the 2026 competition will

• Share New European Bauhaus ideas globally with strong cultural, educational, and symbolic impact
• Foster dialogue between Europe, Japan, and Brazil on sustainable design and climate challenges
• Raise awareness of and support the development of NEB Academy hubs in both countries,
• Leverage strengths in green reconstruction, resilience, bio-based innovation, and advanced design
• Encourage global knowledge exchange, including cooperation with Ukraine., where the NEB Academy is also in development
• Strengthen cooperation in urban and regional development, building on existing EU partnerships
