WASHINGTON-The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets is continuing its investigation into Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) and the federal government's continued lack of transparency surrounding the nature of these anomalies and potential security threats they pose. In a letter to U.S. Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Task Force Chairwoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) requests a series of video files related of UAP sightings.
"On September 9, 2025, the Task Force held a hearing focused on [UAP concerns.] Whistleblowers informed the Task Force that AARO [All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office] possesses additional video records of potential UAP sightings. To continue its investigation, the Task Force requests certain video files related to UAP sightings," wrote Task Force Chairwoman Luna.
During the Task Force's September 9thhearing, members focused on the continued concerns regarding disclosure of UAPs, relevant information held by federal agencies, and examined related transparency issues within the Department of War and the intelligence community.. This is part of the Committee's larger investigation into the work and effectiveness of the Department of War's congressionally mandated AARO.
"The lack of disclosure regarding the very real threat posed by UAPs in and around U.S. restricted airspace is concerning. The Task Force has found responses from AARO, when questioned about UAP sightings and provided data, less than adequate. The presence of UAPs in and around the sensitive airspaces of U.S. military installations poses a threat to the security of the armed forces and their readiness," concluded Task Force Chairwoman Luna.
