A significant milestone on the I-70 Picadilly Interchange Project is happening early next week. As soon as Monday, Sept. 15, the westbound I-70 off-ramp at Colfax Avenue will permanently change to a new alignment. Then Tuesday, Sept. 16, the eastbound I-70 off-ramp will also open to traffic on its new permanent alignment as part of the project.
Westbound I-70 travelers headed to Colfax Avenue currently exit I-70 on the left. Starting Monday, travelers should follow signs and prepare to exit to the right. This change is part of the new permanent traffic pattern for the new I-70 and Picadilly Road diverging diamond interchange.
Travelers should be aware that the new eastbound I-70 off-ramp is slightly west of the current ramp location.
The off-ramps opening will offer motorists limited access to Colfax Avenue and the new Picadilly Road, from the I-70 off-ramps. However, the entire interchange will not be open until Thanksgiving of this year, when the project is substantially complete.
Once the project is substantially complete, travelers should expect changes to existing signage.
Traffic Impacts:
• As soon as Monday, Sept. 15, the new westbound I-70 off-ramp to Colfax Avenue and Picadilly Road will open to traffic.
• Tuesday, Sept. 16, the new eastbound I-70 off-ramp to Colfax Avenue and Picadilly Road will open to traffic.
Please note that construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change, which may impact the closure schedule and duration.
Please use caution and be patient when driving through the work zone. Follow posted speed limits and allow extra time to reach your destination, as drivers may need additional time to adjust to the new permanent traffic alignment.

ABOUT THE I-70 PICADILLY INTERCHANGE PROJECT
With significant residential, commercial and industrial growth along the I-70 corridor, new measures are essential to enhance connectivity. The I-70 Picadilly Interchange Project will minimize out-of-direction travel for area residents and businesses. The diverging diamond interchange (DDI) design features enhanced safety measures including advanced signaling systems and improved lighting that reduce risks to drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists. The new bicycle and pedestrian path through the DDI will also provide safe and accessible infrastructure for the northeast Denver metro area and will improve the safety and quality of life for non-motorized users.
