Central Bank Representatives Discuss Islamic Finance Opportunities and Cooperation in London

A delegation comprising representatives of the Central Bank and commercial banks visited London on 7-8 September 2026 at the invitation of the British Embassy in Tashkent. During the visit, the delegation participated in the IFN UK Forum 2026, one of the leading events in the field of Islamic finance.

The delegation also held meetings with several UK financial institutions and organisations, including TheCityUK Islamic Finance Advisory Group, the London Stock Exchange, HSBC, Gemcorp Capital, UK Export Finance, and others.

During the meetings, representatives of the Central Bank provided detailed information on the legal framework established for Islamic banking in Uzbekistan, plans to develop the capital market and introduce sukuk instruments, as well as ongoing efforts to expand the country's Islamic finance infrastructure. In turn, the UK representatives shared their experience in applying Islamic finance instruments.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to cooperate on the use of Islamic finance instruments to raise funds from international capital markets and finance trade.
