1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun had a meeting with Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday, September 25, local time, on the occasion of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two Ministers assessed that Korea and Iran have maintained their cooperative relations for over 60 years, and agreed to continue working together to further develop bilateral ties.

3. Minister Cho suggested that the two countries expand the foundation for future cooperation by promoting bilateral cooperation in possible areas such as culture, academia, and people-to-people exchanges. He added that exploring cooperation in the fields of K-Culture and K-Food, which have recently gained popularity in Iran, would also be a good way forward.

4. In addition, the two Ministers exchanged views on the issue concerning the reinstatement of UN Security Council sanctions on Iran. Minister Cho emphasized the importance of reaching a peaceful and diplomatic settlement through dialogue and negotiation, and expressed his hope that the parties concerned would continue their efforts to this end.
