Baltimore, MD (Friday, January 9, 2026) - The City of Baltimore advises the public that as of 1:30 PM today, Downtown City campus buildings have closed due to a loss of heat to area buildings. Vicinity Energy, who manages the steam infrastructure necessary for these buildings' heat, have begun conducting emergency repair work to address the impacts.
A right lane closure is also in effect along Guilford Avenue between Lexington and E. Fayette Streets. Motorists should download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.
The impacted buildings include Baltimore City Hall, the Abel Wolman Building, and Cummings Courthouse (111 N. Calvert St.). A full list of addresses of impacted Buildings is below:
All in-person city services located in these buildings, including all in-person billing, revenue collection, and water system customer service offices located in the Abel Wolman Building, will be unavailable until repairs are completed and heat is restored. Residents are encouraged to make accommodations to account for this temporary disruption of in-person services.
